Semi Back To Normal

Hello everyone! To be honest, today feels more like a Monday than a Thursday but I’m all confused on the days over here. That’s what a 4 day weekend turned 5 day weekend does to you I guess. Have a great day 🙂

Scrambled eggs, toast with cream cheese and chia seeds

When I woke up yesterday, my stomach was still feeling a little eh but since I had a good nights sleep (and multiple naps on Tuesday 😉 I was up and ready for work. Breakfast was a little all over the place since we were a tad slow moving after not having to be up for work the past few days. Even with a pretty empty fridge, we managed to pull together some toast and eggs to start the day.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got to work and wasn’t overwhelmed with things to do. A big part of that was essentially my whole team took Friday off then Memorial Day so no one was working too much. The morning flew by and then I quickly went home for lunch and to hang out with Bailey before heading back to work a few more hours.

After work, I ended to the grocery store to pick up just a few essentials to tide us over until a bigger trip this weekend. If I had thought ahead, I could have done it all then but oh well. It won’t kill me to go back right? On the drive home I thought about heading out for a run but decided to hold off one more day since my stomach still wasn’t 100% back to normal.

Bailey and I went for a walk after she got fed and the groceries were all put away. I finished unpacking and then pulled out my book to keep reading. Throughout the night I picked it up a few times to read and am so close to finishing. Tomorrow will have a more in depth review but I’m a big fan of The Wife Between Us.

Shredded Chicken Burrito Bowl

Alex got home from work and it was time to eat. I had everything heated up and ready to go so we could eat shortly after he got home. Shredded chicken burrito bowls hit the spot and involved minimal cooking which is always a plus. The chicken was the dinner we were supposed to have before we left for Chicago but decided to throw it in the freezer for when we got back home. One of the better decisions we’ve made for sure. I filled my bowl with brown rice, chicken, black beans, cheese, lettuce, salsa and a little sour cream. It was so tasty.

We watched an episode of the office before a certain furry family member reminded us that she had some more energy to get rid of. After leashing Bailey up we headed to the tennis courts to play a few rounds of fetch. One of the young kids in our complex was walking by and ran up to the gate to say “Hi Bailey” before quickly telling us he had to go home. It was adorable and Bailey LOVES all the friends she has in the complex.

After we got home, we finished our episode of The Office then headed off the bed.

Question of the day: Do you find that getting back to a normal routine after a few days off takes a while?

  1. I love my routine! And after a few days off, I’m always itching to get back on schedule. Although my summer routine is pretty different!

  2. I’m definitely struggling to get back to “normal” this week! I was away for the weekend as well so it threw me off for this week. Luckily it’s Thursday and I plan to get my life back on track this weekend! The Wife Between Us sounds like a good book! I’ve been reading a lot lately which I had really missed, so I’ll add that to my list!

    1. Long weekends don’t typically throw me off but I think being sick is what got me! It made everything just crazy and lots of last minute/on the fly decisions lol. But just gotta roll with the punches! I highly recommend the book! Summer is such a great one for reading since you can sit outside and get some sun while enjoying a good book.

    1. The one extra day in the weekend can really throw everyone off. Thanks Emily! I’m glad I’m feeling better too. Burrito bowls are almost at the point they are a food group in our house. Gotta love them.

  3. I am really sorry that you were not feeling well. Stomach bugs and food poisoning really SUCK. Although, I had Memorial Day off…I am STRUGGLING this week. I am a bit of an introvert and I believe that I absolutely overdosed on social interactions last weekend. I am glad to see that you are recovering. Your furry friend seems to be very therapeutic.

    1. I’m actually feeling much better today! No stomach pain at all and I have my fingers crossed it stays that way. When I saw a doctor quickly yesterday they weren’t concerned so that was a good sign to me.

Girl I am the SAME way! I love being social but it has to be on my own introverted terms lol. Not too much or too long and then I need to relax. Bailey was amazing the two days when I was really under the weather which both Alex and I appreciated.

  4. Getting back into routine after a long weekend is always the hardest! I honestly can’t believe it’s Thursday already and we only had Monday off! I can imagine your days feel super mixed up. Bailey is so adorable! I love that picture of her just waiting at the door, watching outside. ❤

    1. I honestly don’t even know what day it feels like right now lol. I’m happy tomorrow is Friday though! Isn’t it the cutest?! She heard her little friends yelling to each other and needed to investigate. She’s such a little cutie 🙂

  5. I feel ya on the routines! I do a lot of my grocery shopping on Saturdays so when we have been traveling, I am a little out of sorts!

  6. this has been a strange week for us too. I guess everyone will get back into the swing of things next week? I love the picture of Bailey looking out the door

    1. I think I’m back into it today but it really doesn’t feel like it should be Friday. She heard the kids she’s friends with yelling outside and ran over to sit there. It was cute.
