If You Like Pina Coladas…

Hi friends! I hope your weekend has been a good one so far. We lucked out with the weather yesterday since it didn’t storm like the forecast called for. Well it may have stormed overnight but I didn’t wake up so who knows. Hopefully the humidity has died down a bit because it was killer the past few days.

I woke up nice and early to get in an easy 3 mile run. Boy did my legs need those easy miles. They were feeling it after the 200m sprints I had on Friday. I managed to finish all by 7 and hopped into the shower. It’s crazy how summer running means even easy runs leave you covered in sweat. I wanted to get to the grocery store before it was too crowded so I made a big smoothie for breakfast. In it was some blueberries, strawberries, 1/3 of a banana and cauliflower rice from the freezer plus chia seed, peanut butter, protein powder and enough milk to make it drinkable through a straw.

Once the groceries were all put away, I headed back out to hit up Target and TJ Maxx. I wandered around both stores for a while to browse and see the things that I needed (read as wanted). I actually picked up a few pairs of shorts at TJ Maxx so I’d call it a win. I ended up meeting Alex in Princeton to go to a few stores since he said J. Crew was having a sale. Unfortunately I didn’t get anything there but we did get a Father’s Day Gift so it wasn’t a total bust of an outing!

Deli meat sandwich with carrots and pretzels

When we got home, I was getting hungry. I made a deli sandwich and added some carrots and pretzels to my plate. It was oh so tasty. I’ve noticed that most of my weekend lunches are deli meat sandwiches but honestly I don’t even care. It’s good so why not?

Bailey With Long Leash

After lunch we leashed Bailey up to go to the park. Unfortunately we weren’t there very long before it started to rain. It was the weirdest thing! It was just a few drops then nothing for a bit until we could hear the drops on trees a bit away. All of a sudden the largest rain drops came down. Even though she didn’t have a ton of time to run around, it’s the thought that counts right?

Once we got home, I grabbed my book to read. Chelsea Sedoti’s The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett is a cute book. I think it would be a good one to read by the beach or pool since it’s not crazy intense or anything but not completely mindless or anything. I’m a little over halfway and curious how it’s going to end.

Alex said how the hot and humid weather was making him want a treat. The treat ended up being a pina colada. We took them outside since the rain had stopped and chatted for a bit. I felt like I was getting bit my mosquitos so after a bit, I headed back inside to continue our conversation.

For dinner, we order Thai food. I got Pad See Lew with chicken, American broccoli, Chinese broccoli, egg in a black soy sauce. It was really good! Alex got beef Pad Thai and really enjoyed his meal as well. When Alex went to pick it up, they had actually messed up my order and someone made something completely differently so they made my correct meal right on the spot. I’m glad they owned up to their mistake to give good customer service.

After dinner we watched Patriot’s Day. This is the movie about the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013. Oh my…this movie was amazing. There were so many times in it that both Alex and I said we could have cried. I actually did cry at one point. The movie was so well made and according to this Boston Globe article, pretty accurate. If you have not seen the movie stop everything and watch it. We headed to bed once the movie ended.

Question of the day: Do you like pina coladas?

    1. I’m not a coffee person so I’m not sure if I’d like a kahlua colada. I’ll have to tell Alex since he’s a bigger coffee fan!
It was a fun day even if our plan to be outside got rained out. Enjoy your Sunday!

    1. Hahah I love that you got the reference 😉
I can totally see why you would be hesitant. If you found a place that you could almost interval about for the way they cook then maybe you could try it! Or just make it at home!!

  3. Pina Coladas arre the best summer drinks! I’ve never tried making them myself but now I might have to! I haven’t had Thai food in a long time. I usually get Pad Thai but I’m always so nervous with my but allergy so I go to the same place every time. So far they haven’t hurt me yet! Haha

    1. We bought a mix to make them and they’re delicious! So easy to make too. I can imagine how having a nut allergy would make ordering Thai hard. At least you found a place that you can eat at!

  4. Yummmm pina coladas are my fave drink. Also, I’ve never thought of putting cauliflower rice in a smoothie before, but that’s a great idea to get some extra veggies in!

    1. I’ve heard of people putting frozen cauliflower in since it gives the creaminess that bananas do but I have some cauliflower rice to use up so I tried that instead. I honestly couldn’t taste it!

  5. That smoothie you made sounds SOO good!!! Good for you getting up so early- I have a realllly hard time working out in the morning except when we’re traveling.

I hate when I spend hours shopping and then don’t end up finding anything, but so great you found a Father’s Day gift!!

Sometimes nothing beats a good sandwich!

Loooove thai food. It’s probably my favorite. So yummy!

I didn’t even know they made a movie about the Boston Marathon?! Oh my goodness, I’ll be watching that as soon as I have the time. Thanks for sharing!

And to answer your question: YES! Pina Coladas are hard to beat.

    1. If I wake up early then I get out the door so I can start my run early. Once Alex is up then going for a run is wayyy less enticing haha. Cuddling in bed sounds like more fun.

I got some shorts at TJ Maxx luckily. I need more though haha. Since I started running I’ve lost weight (woo!) but the downside is now I need new summer bottoms. Not complaining though.

Honestly I have a sandwich every day for lunch and I have yet to tire from it.

Yes! It’s fictional about the Boston Marathon bombings and is honestly amazing. I lost it at the end haha but highly highly recommend.

I just got into Pina Coladas since I’m not a big coconut person but now I’m hooked. They’re delicious on a hot and humid down. Now if only I had one in hand while sitting on a beach…

  6. I love pina coladas but I also love them mixed with a strawberry daiquiri which is a Miami vice. I fortunately or maybe unfortunately discovered this drink at my friend’s wedding in Mexico!
